MARCONI

Multimedia and Augmented Radio Creation: Online, iNteractive, Individual

Hasselt University, Belgium

As a postdoctoral researcher in the EU-funded MARCONI project, I studied the challenges faced by radio makers to handle large amounts of digital information “live” - especially when combining different channels such as media outlets and user-generated content. My design work for MARCONI is reported in Deliverable 4.1: Stakeholder feedback on exploratory mock-ups

Project summary

The MARCONI project aims to bring radio experiences to the next level by enabling fully interactive and personalised radio solutions, integrating broadcast radio with digital and social media. To realize this goal, MARCONI will pursue two concrete objectives. First, consumers will be able to interact with “live” radio through their preferred communication channel in various ways. Second, radio-makers will be given an integrated view on audience interactions and will be supported by interaction automation services.

MARCONI uses AI to automate the processing of content and interactions. By including a radio redaction solutions provider in the consortium, the project is able to guarantee smooth integration in real operational workflows. A strong participation from the industry ensures that MARCONI's market potential will be properly exploited.
